CA2911 – Integrated Operation Centre (IOC)

Contractor: Hipperson Construction Company (1996) LTD

The scope of work includes the fit-out, renovation, construction, commissioning, and turnover of the Jansen Stage 1 IOC and 3 floors of general office space:

  • General purpose office space is leased by BHP with an approximate area of 1,746 m2 per floor.
  • The renovation includes a control room area as well as the balance of IOC office/collaboration areas and associated infrastructure including electrical, HVAC, communications, and audio-visual elements. .

CG2701 – Disposal Wells A&B

Contractor: Artisan Consulting Services (2023) LTD

The CG2701 – Disposal Wells A & C package scope of work includes design, supply, and installation work relevant to the Jansen 1 Disposal Wells A and C, and the refurbishment
of the existing Disposal Well B.
Scope of Work Summary:

  • Development of scope of work and subsequent refurbishment of Well B.
  • Design well head, piping, and fabrication, grouting, and installation at Well A & C.
  • Development of scope and drilling of new Wells A and C.

CC2701 – Fine TMA / Course TMA Phase 1B/ Onsite Rail – Earthworks

Contractor: 2 Nations Bird Contruction LP

The scope of work includes the construction of the fine tailings storage facility. Within the facility the scope also includes the construction of two concrete decant towers, the fine brine transfer pumpstation, and several interceptor ditch pumps. HDPE pipe scope included the toe and finger drains installed within the dykes, the extensive underdrain piping network, and the brine transfer lines from the Fine Cell to the Coarse Tailings Cell. Scope also includes the supply and installation of the interceptor ditch pumps, brine transfer pumps, and associated electrical and instrumentation equipment and ancillaries.

CG2704 – Tailings and Development Spoils (DS) systems SMPEI

Contractor: Centurion Canada Infrastructure Inc

The scope of work includes the installation of the DS temporary equipment. It also includes the SMPEI installation of the tailings facilities, including the brine reclaim barge, surface HDPE pipelines, brine disposal well stations, e-houses, pumps, and all associated electrical and instrumentation equipment and wiring. Scope also includes the design, supply and installation of temporary Electrical and Control houses, design to be based on Team Jansen provided performance specifications, and engineering. DS is used to address early mine development in advance of Mill construction and commissioning.

CR3101 – Onsite Rail and Joint Access Spur

Contractor: A&B Rail Services LTD

This work includes supply and fabrication of material for the rail superstructure and area lighting as well as
connection of the signalling and tower control to the main site networks; installation of the superstructure, rail signalling and tower control system.

CC0003 – Earthworks

Contractor: Ledcor CMI

The scope is comprising site wide general earthworks and construction of laydown areas in addition to installation of buried utilities and electrical distribution precast trenches. This package is a key enabler for piling, concrete, contractor laydowns, and other downstream scope.

CC0004 – Early Earthworks

Contractor: Allan Cash Metis Construction JV

This package comprises earthworks to be covered construction season and has been created to meet both BHP’s agreements with the local Rural Municipality (RM) and environmental requirements related to site water management. The scope included has been extracted from packages and includes the following:

  • RM Road #1 and 60th Street Intersection Upgrades
  • Clearing and Grubbing in advance of 2021 scope of works
  • SWEF Effluent Pond Expansion

CC1601 – Vent Plenums Phases 2 and 3 (Substations Civil Works)

Contractor: Ledcor projects Inc

Scope consists of DVS & SS Vent Plenums excavation & concrete works, the
230kV & 34.5kV Substation foundation works, road crossing/culvert, increased test piling, and the modular data centres together with additional miscellaneous transformer pads.

CE2803 – Network Deployment and Integration

Contractor: 

The scope of work for this package includes the design, assembly, supply, installation, configuration, and testing of a hyperconverged infrastructure and its integral components to bring compute, storage, and management capabilities together through software with the scale to meet demand with growth and to support Jansen Operations. The scope also includes design, configuration, and testing the related networking and the physical and logical architecture of the communications networks to be deployed and integrated across Jansen

CG2703 – Coarse TMA Phase 1AB

Contractor: Allan Ventures Development Corp (AVDC) 

The scope being the construction of the Coarse Cell 1AB dykes and interceptor ditches, and construction of a section of the rail bed and service road to facilitate access to Disposal Well A. Minor scope includes diversion of existing services, grading at Disposal Well B, pipe bench from Well B to Well A, stripping and grading at Well A, and installation of interceptor ditch pumping systems.

CG2802 – 230 kV & 34.5 kV Substation – SMPEI

Contractor: PCL Industrial Management

The scope is primarily an electrical and communications contract with minor civil and structural scopes. The key scopes being the construction of the 230kV and 34.5kV Substations, installation of the Mill#1 34.5kV E-House, installation of the Modular Data Centers (East and West), and site power and communication distribution inside precast concrete trenches (precast trenches installed by others), buried cable trenches, and overhead transmission line. Minor scopes include civil and structural steel work, Long Term Evolution (LTE) infrastructure, and decommissioning and demolition of the existing 138kV/25kV and 25kV/5kV Substations after permanent power is available and the existing 25kV and 5kV construction power systems have been transferred.

CG2902 – Potable Water Treatment Plant and Diesel Fuel System

The scope of work of the package is as follows:

  • SMPEI modifications to existing PWTP buildings, Building 3 (GSMF – Green Sand Media Filter
    Building) & Building 4 (RO – Reverse Osmosis Building);
  • Piling for new PTWP buildings, Building 1 (Chemical Storage Building) and Building 2 (Process
    Building);
  • Installation and SMPEI tie-ins of new Building 1, Building 2, Chemical sump, Sewage Holding
    Tank to existing infrastructure including external piping and platform installations.
  • Installation of diesel fuel system and associated SMPEI.
  • Installation of oil water separator at the diesel fuel pad.

CR3104 – Wabtec Locotrol

The scope of work for the Tower Control System package is to design, supply and factory acceptance testing of all equipment, hardware, software and programming for commissioning of the remote train control (Tower Control) system.
Detailed scope includes:

  • Design, manufacture, supply all equipment, hardware, software and programming for the remote train control (Tower Control) system
  • Study proposed loadout facility and yard layout to ensure proposed Tower Control System is suitable and will function safely.

SG6101 – Dry Mill PAU Heavy Haul

The scope includes:

  • Provision of heavy haul transportation services from PAU assembly facilities (Dry Mil Area and Robot Product Loadout PAUs) to Jansen Site in support of Dry Mill Area SMPEI Contract.

SG6102 – Wet Mill PAU Heavy Haul

The scope includes:

  • Provision of heavy haul transportation services from PAU assembly facilities (Wet Mil Area) to Jansen Site in support of Wet Mill Area SMPEI Contract.
  • Preassembled Units: Fabrication and Assembly;
  • Transportation permitting;
  • Preparation of transportation plans and transportation drawings;

SG6103 – Heavy Lift and SPMT

The scope includes:

  • Provision and operation of four heavy lift cranes at the Mill Building Area.
  • Provision and operation of four trains of SPMT to transport PAUs from the Jansen Site laydown to the Mill Building Area work-fronts.
  • Provision and installation of crane mats for heavy lift crane and SMPEI crane operation at the Mill Building Area.

The SG6103 Heavy Lift and SPMT contractor will render these services in support of Mill Building SMPEIs Dry Mill Area SMPEI and Wet Mill Area SMPEI contracts.

SC6105 – Concrete Batch Plant

Contractor: Lafarge Canada

Scope includes, Batch Plant Operator (BPO) Contractor will be responsible for operating on-site concrete batch plants and for supplying construction constructions with concrete which constitutes the bulk of the Jansen civil construction concrete requirements. The BPO conduct refurbishment, construction, installation, commissioning, and start-up activities (including test batching). The BPO supply all labour, materials, equipment, tools, and supervision.

SC6204 – Site Survey

Contractor: GeoVerra Inc

The survey contractor primarily responsible to undertake quality assurance inspections and reviews to support construction contractor quality control and also to review construction contractor survey submittals for accuracy and compliance with Project geomatics standards. Including and further to QA support, the survey contractor will be utilized and directed to carry out various survey activities

SG6206 – Site Civil Inspection and Testing

Contractor: SNC Lavalin Inc

The Service Contractor will support the EPCM CMT work. The Service Contractor shall provide civil (including earthworks, concrete, and grout) testing services as quality assurance for ongoing construction work. The Service Contractor will provide all labour, supervision, equipment, vehicles, materials, supplies, tools, and consumables required to perform the work.

SG6708 – Aggregate Sourcing, Supply, and Site Stockpile Management 

Contractor: Lafarge Canada Inc

Summary of Work is to supply, load, and haul aggregate for the Jansen Stage 1 Project. The total quantity to be supplied and hauled is 1,405,302 metric ton of aggregates. The Contractor will unload the aggregates to three designated locations. The Contractor will provide detailed plan for the crushing date and hauling dates to ensure it is in line with the supply requirements for the project.

SG6201 – Site Security Services

Contractor: Athabasca Basin Security

The scope of Work for the Site Security Services package is to provide trained and experienced labour, all necessary equipment, tools, site compliant vehicles, and materials required to provide a quality 24 hours a day, 7 days a week service as requested by the Company for site security services for the execution of phase one of the Jansen
Potash Mine and Production Facility.
Detailed scope includes:

  • On-site and site-perimeter mobile patrol.
  • 24 hour 7 days a week Gatehouse attendance, site access control, and security surveillance
  • Discovery Lodge security services and surveillance.
  • Discovery Lodge and Production area fire alarm panel monitoring and notification.
  • On-site vehicle speed monitoring.
  • Camp and storage location surveillance and security services.
  • Ad-hoc dog detector searches and swabbing for illicit substance detection.
  • Production area surveillance and security service

SG6202 – Emergency Response

This scope includes:

  • On-Site Emergency Services, such as Fire Response, First Responder Medical, High Angle Rescue, Confined
    Space/Trench Rescue, Motor Vehicle Extrication and Response Assessments and Planning.
  • Supplying sufficient staffing, supplies and equipment to maintain emergency response directly scaled to the
    number of site personnel and scheduled construction activities.

SG6203 – Medical Services

The Medical Services scope includes:

  • Providing off-site and on-site consulting for Advanced Life Support (ALS)
  • Prompt occupational patient assessment and return to work recommendations as requested.
  • Providing accurate and complete fitness-for-work assessments, as required.
  • Providing Physicians for first-aid facility, Emergency, and response to cover the BHP Jansen Potash work site.
  • Supply professional, registered staffing to provide Occupational and Non-Occupational health services.
  • Immediate emergent/acute care for serious or life-threatening incidents and injuries in a remote environment

ST6601 – Camp Management, Catering Maint. & Janitorial Services

The scope of this Camp Management Services package includes provision of direct and indirect labour, supply of food and certified food preparation, janitorial, waste management, housekeeping services and equipment to support the execution of Jansen Stage 1, per the following:

The scope of work for this contract includes:

  • Detailed engineering Design (including submission of Vendor Data Deliverables);

CC0001 – Piling

The scope of work for the Piling package covers drilling, construction and completion of a nominal 2799 concrete piles (3036 including growth allowance) across the Jansen Stage 1 site including the following locations:

  • Dry & Screening Area;
  • Loadout;
  • Product Conveyance;

CC2001 – Mill Area – Foundations

The scope of work for the Mill Area – Foundation package is to supply all labour, materials, equipment, tools, and supervision to execute the Mill Building foundations and adjacent structures foundations. This includes the Wet Processing (Area 211), Dry Processing (Area 212), Tailings Processing (Area 213), Reagents (Area 214) and Product Screening (Area 263) areas.
Detailed scope includes:

  • Detailing, supply and installation of rebar
  • Supply, installation, and removal of formwork
  • Concrete supply (thru the onsite batch plant) and installation
  • Concrete finishing for all foundations and slabs
  • Supply and installation of precast concrete elements

CC2002 – Raw Ore/Product Handling Area – Foundations

The scope includes supply of all labour, materials, equipment, tools and supervision to execute the construction of concrete foundations in the Raw Ore/Product Handling Area as part of Contract CC2002, including:
Detailed scope includes:

  • Local detailed excavation for foundations. Including those for spread footings and other work
    not executed as part of the “bathtub” excavation;
  • Rough grading around installed foundations;
  • Supply, fabrication, installation and stripping of formwork of all cast-in-place concrete;
  • Supply, fabrication, installation, handling, storage and transportation to site of all precast
    elements;
  • Supply, detailing, delivery and installation of rebar;
  • Concrete mix design;
  • Storage, loading, transportation receiving and unloading of the finished precast elements to

CG1601 – Service Shaft Headframe Changeover

Contractor: Ledcor Projects Inc.

The scope includes the changeover of the Service Shaft (SS) headframe, installation of the permanent mine ventilation systems, and surface raw ore handling infrastructure. The SS headframe changeover involves removal of the existing sinking headframe and installation of a permanent production headframe.

CG0010 – ECI Mining Development

Contractor: Procon Mining & Tunnelling Ltd

This scope includes the following:

Underground development scope:

  • Validation of ramp up schedule from resequencing;
  • Confirmation of labour numbers and market assessment and strategy/plan for supply of mine equipment operators to suit resequencing targets;
  • Validation of development rate attainable with prescribed equipment;
  • Review equipment list and identify shortcomings based on previous item;
  • Propose organizational changes to complete the work;
  • Confirmation of fixed price work and unit rate items;
  • Validate the Integrated Construction Center (ICC) for underground development use.

    Underground construction scope:

  • Complete level 4 schedule of raw ore – surge bin BMH areas;
  • Based on the above schedule:
  • Confirm parallel work;
  • Equipment required;
  • Excavation rates for bins;
  • Underground construction installation rates;
  • Resources; and
  • Test/review

CG1001 – Service Shaft Headframe Changeover

Contractor: CCI

The scope is a post liner excavation, steel installation and furnishing. Execution occurs following the completion of the in-execution post final liner package that complete the Service Shaft (SS) and Dalla Valle Shaft (DVS) furnishings, and commission the DVS headframe.

CG1101 – Mining – Underground Development

Contractor: TRL

This package involves the excavation and development of the shaft pillar area immediately adjacent to the two shafts which will contain core mine facilities such as workshops, offices, underground vehicle parking and permanent connections for mine-utilities. The contract also requires excavation of the drifts out to the first mining panels, approximately 5kms each, and the installation of associated infrastructure. The total amount of ore to be excavated is ~3mT.

CG1605 – Freeze Well Grouting Phase 3 Part 2

Contractor: TRL

The scope includes the changeover of the Service Shaft (SS) headframe, installation of the permanent mine ventilation systems, and surface raw ore handling infrastructure. The SS headframe changeover involves removal of the existing sinking headframe and installation of a permanent production headframe.
