Jansen potash project
We are building one of the world’s largest and most sustainable potash mines – join us.
Jansen will produce approximately 8.5 million tonnes of potash every year
Jansen is 100 per cent owned by BHP and represents the largest private investment in Saskatchewan’s history, totaling CAD$14 billion. Once fully ramped up, it is expected to generate approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum of potash, positioning Jansen to be a top five producer by volume globally.
Our purpose is to bring people and resources together to build a better world. We’re not just building one of the world’s largest potash mines, it’s going to be the most sustainable as well.
At BHP, we believe success comes from partnering with suppliers, local communities and First Nations to innovate, collaborate and lift our shared business value. In doing so, we’re working together to tackle important issues like social value, climate change as well as inclusion and diversity.
Where we’re located
BHP’s potash project is located in Jansen, about 140 kilometres east of Saskatoon in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada.
With respect and gratitude, we operate in Treaty 4, 6, 19 and on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of Coast Salish peoples and the homeland of the Métis.

We’re creating opportunities for the local and Indigenous workforce as well as businesses
Jansen creates business opportunities for local and Indigenous companies, as well as jobs for the province. Diversity and inclusion are central to building the project’s workforce, which will be approximately 5,500 workers during project construction.
A partnership formed to bring the right expertise and experience to the Jansen project
As part of an Integrated Project Team (IPT), we’re working with our partners BHP Team Jansen and Fluor to deliver Jansen.
